The German Jan-Lennard Struff defeated Alexander Bublik from Kazakhstan in R2 of St. Petersburg Open 2021 – 6/4, 6/3.

Struff broke once in each set, and didn’t give any chance to the opponent on his serve.

“Alexander Bublik is a very tough opponent. He has a great serve and a lot of touch and he has a different game style comparing to other players. So, I needed to stay focused on the return games, to put as many returns into the game and to stay focused on my service games, to serve well and not to give too many chances. And think I did well”, – said Jan-Lennard after the victory.

In QF, which will take place on Friday, Struff will face the 2nd seed Denis Shapovalov from Canada.

“Shapo is a very nice guy. And he is a very good player. Last time we played he beat me in Dubai pretty easy, I didn’t perform well in that match. But I managed to beat him some times before. So, I expect a very tough match. And I am very happy to be here in the quarters now”, – he added.
