KHACHANOV TO PLAY KARATSEV

The fourth seed Karen Khachanov from Russia won his opening match against James Duckworth from Australia 6/4, 6/4 in 1 h 17 mins at the St. Petersburg Open 2020. In the next round the local crowd will watch a Russian derby Karen Khachanov vs WC holder Aslan Karatsev.

“I scored my first ATP win here and I am thankful for the crowd who came to support me. It felt different to play with empty seats. Speaking about the match, I am happy I won. There is always something to improve. I was practicing on hard courts just for a couple of days: I have just got used to clay and now it’s time to switch to hard courts. But everyone is in the same conditions, so I should practice and that is it”, – said Khachanov in his interview after the match.
