On Wednesday, October 14, several doubles matches were played at the 25th International tennis tournament St. Petersburg Open 2020.
On the Center court, the Russians Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev squared off with Alexander Bublik (Kazakhstan) and Reilly Opelka (USA). The Russian duo who triumphally knocked out the top seeds Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski from Great Britain stopped just one step away from the semis. Khachanov-Rublev fell to the duo Bublik-Opelka in the tie-breaker 3/6, 6/1, 9-11. The match lasted a bit more than 1 h.
The clash on Court 1 wasn no less intense. The French Adrian Mannarino-Fabrice Martin-Andrei Vasilevski prevailed over Jonathan Erlich (Israel)-Andrei Vasilevski (Belarus), who were handed a wild card from the organizers of the tournament – 6/3, 5/7, 10-8. They will vie for a spot in the semis with Ben McLachlan (Japan) and Franko Skugor (Croatia) who beat the top seeds Max Purcell and Luke Saville from Australia – 6/3, 6/2.
