- About the tournament
Dear users! Currently, we are launching a new version of the ATP ST.PETERSBURG OPEN 2019 website. Sorry for any inconvience, thank you for your patience.
Russian players Karen Khachanov and Daniil Medvedev will become the top seeds at the International Men’s ATP Tournament St. Petersburg Open 2019 which will be held from Sept. 15 to Sept. 22 in the Northern Capital of Russia. This became known when the Organizing Committee issued the final Player Acceptance List after processing all applications.
Karen is currently no. 8 in the ATP ranking, and Daniil – thanks to his successful performance in Washington where he reached the final – climbed from the 10thto the 9thspot on Aug. 5. Consequently, St. Petersburg’s tennis supporters will watch the on-court performances of both of the leading Russian players who are currently in the Top 10 of the ATP singles ranking. Khachanov, as well as Medvedev, deserved their place among the world tennis elite and appropriately became the top seeds of the upcoming St. Petersburg Open where they are considered to be the favorites. As can be seen from the above, the tournament keeps up its high level: its line-up invariably includes the Top 10 players.
The tournament will also welcome the US Open 2017 semi-finalist and the former no. 10 in the world Pablo Carreño Busta from Spain, and the Serb Miomir Kecmanovic, who reached the quarter-final in Indian Wells in 2019. Also competing are the owner of 2 ATP titles and the former no.12 in the world Borna Coric from Croatia, and a three-time Grand Slam winner from Switzerland Stan Wawrinka. Other participants include the winner of St. Petersburg Open 2010 Mikhail Kukushkin, Kremlin Cup 2018 runner-up from France Adrian Mannarino, and Alexander Bublik who represents Kazakhstan and reached his career high no. 71 in the world ranking in June.
