Dzhumhur to face Karatsev, Gerasimov takes on Tabilo

On Saturday, September 14, the draw ceremony of the qualification of St. Petersburg Open 2019 took place. The top-seed 27-year-old Damir Dzhumhur from Bosnia and Herzegovina who won his maiden title here in St. Petersburg in 2017 will start his tournament with а match against the Russian Aslan Karatsev.

«The city and the tournament are special for me. Hope this week in St. Petersburg will become the  turning point of the season for me”, – Dzhumhur told the correspondent of tournament press-service.

Another former St. Petersburg Open champion of the 2013 edition Ernests Gulbis from Latvia will face the Israeli Amir Weintraub. The second seed Egor Gerasimov from Belarus will take on Alejandro Tabilo from Chile.

There are five more Russians besides Karatsev who will vie for a spot in the main draw. Evgeny Karlovsky will square off with fifth seed Czech Lukas Rosol, Roman Safiullin is to play the sixth seeded Viktor Troicki from Serbia, and Alexey Vatutin  will play Aleksandr Nedovyesov from Kazakhstan. Two wild card holders Evgeniy Tiurnev and Alexander Vasilenko will meet in their R1 matches Ilya Ivashka and Matteo Viola.
